vaccuum diaphragm maintenance ques. was created by cratgo
does anybody everapply anything to their vaccuum rubbers or lube their vaccuum pistons? my carbs are kinda rough but not damaged persay, i want to make sure they are the best they can be

Whenerever I take the carbs apart I usually clean the pistons by wiping with a cloth soaked in carb cleaner. I've never put anything on the rubber diaphragms.

Be very careful with vacuum diaphragms in carbs. Put a hole in one or melt it you are dead in the water. When in doubt soap and warm water applied with sponge or soft cloth will get rid of most contaminants.
