Fuel gauge for 1980 KZ1000 LTD

Is there or has there ever been a fuel gauge for 1980 KZ1000 LTD? I have had to push this darn bike twice. And before anyone screams at me I know where the reserve is.

No. Those small tanks only have a eight mile reserve. i guess you know that.

I always filled up around 110 miles.

I wish I was getting 110 I get more like 85 miles.

Hi I found an LTD cap on E-Bay for 140.00 with free world-wide shipping. The cap comes from Taiwan and is a pretty good copy of the ones that were available back in the 70's. I bought the Z1 version and it came to Canada in seven days!(beats the crap out of our postal service)The only difference I found was that the corners are a little more rounded off than the original. Lately I have seen NOS units selling for 700.00 on E-Bay. I have an original Z1 cap but the glass is foggy and needs rechroming but a parts swap will hopefully work. The LTD had a key lock as well as the float gauge.They go by www.qsps.com

heavy aint they! :laugh: when i repaint my ltd im going to a fat kz or z1 tank,i too have felt this pain :S
