leaking was created by irish mike
hi everybody i thought i had my 79 kz650 dialed in and ready to go[pics comming soon] but heres the deal- bike runs great but when i stop and park it about 4 or 5 hours later i find a spot of gas under the bike -[with petcock in the off position]it seems to be just the gas in the carbs thats leeking out -especially when its on the sidestand the drain on the sidestand side is the only one that leeks [i think]could it be the float valve seals [ivereplaced juist about everything else in the carbs and cleaned them no gas comes out while bike is running like i said its uasually about 4 or 5 hours later when i notice the spot of gas thanks mike..

Sounds like the petcock is leaking and the needle and seats probably need to be replaced too

Float level could be on the highside also.
Mine did that and it was the petcock even after a rebuild. I had to take off the tank and let it sit overnight to find the petcock was the culprit

You can pull the overflow hoses up to where you can see them well and positively identify which carb(s) is leaking. That way you won't spin your wheels working on carbs that are ok. Once you identify the leaker, assuming that it's leaking through the overflow, make sure the overflow "tube" inside the carb bowl isn't cracked or damaged. Some members have had that happen and the carb leaked the fuel that normally just rests in the carb bowl. Ed
