Anyone use these filters? Results? was created by TeK9iNe
A client of mine has brought these filters to my attention:
UNI Pod Filters
Anyone have some info on these? I'm pretty sure I've used/seen them on a dirtbike or two...
just not street.

;) Good air flow? Durable? Look good? blah blah ...

I have one mounted to the back of my stock airbox on my KZ900. I like it as an aftermufler and it also keeps the K&N inside the airbox totally clean. The reason I like it is because it eliminates carburetor noise which K&N will not.

I have two on my gs They definitely flow better than the air box did. I find them easy to clean pretty durable I think I've had mine on ther for two years without any problems. they are a little big though. mine are about 5 inches long (thats what she said) Anyhow they are usable.

i use them on my hill climber and i have also used them on a xs650 that i had plus on one kz that i had years ago you have to check then from time to time because gas can cause them to deteriote over time and the foam can break down causing thin spots but on the whole they work well and are very easy to take care of. i have seen if they are wash in solvent this can also happen so i always wash them in hot soapy water then spray the out side with foam filter oil.

Be it that it eliminates carb noise, I assume it flows less than the K&N then, or would you say similar?

I like the look of the chrome cap ones.

i think that it flows a little less than a K&N but much better than a stock paper filter.

Just make sure to closely inspect them from the inside periodically. The UNI's I had started to crumble from the inside. The crumbs really have nowhere to go but into your engine.

yeah, I'm not too fond of that idea. I think I will suggest the K&N's. Considering they last practically forever, (when properly maintained) they're worth every penny.

Cheers.

I have a set of the chrome cap UNI's on my Z1. I actually quite like them. They don't seem to have problems with crosswinds like the Emgo's do. I like the fact that they are serviceable. The 1 and 4 filters will squash in a bit with the side covers, but it's not a really big deal.

The K&N's are sweet, but the price sure isn't. Seems to me K&N would sell A LOT more filters if they could come down on their inflated prices. :side:

I certainly agree on that one.

What about these guys?

They're the "Ape Super Pro Air Filters". Anyone have info on this set?
They look similar to the Emgo pods that I've seen. Are these better quality maybe?

Cheers.

There was another discussion about the APE that are shipping are different than pictured. More of a round pod than an oval.

I had the UNI chrome capped pods on the Gpz when I bought it. They do eventually start to crumble. There is also a spring inside to help it keep shape.

Using K&N now and will not look back.

Fwiw, I just serviced my chrome cap UNI's the other day using the UNI cleaner and oil kit. So far the filters look good and I've had them for a few years. Hope they hold up for a while longer.
