KZ1300 carb kits... help? was created by tomsweb1
Hey guys,
I'm having alot of trouble locating carb rebuild kits for my 82 kz1300. Anywhere I do find them, they're sold out.
Does anyone out there know where to find them?

Thanks in advance!

hmm, the guy at Z1 said they don't exist. He suggested I buy a Z1, then he could get me all the parts I ever wanted, haha! (I had previously asked him about another imppossible to find part for my 750 Hondamatic)

Siriusco doesn't appear to have any in stock, but I will send them and e-mail soon.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

Everything exists, you just have to take the time to find it. You would be surprised at what you can find if you look hard enough. There are just not that many KZ1300s around, so dealers just don't bother carrying parts for them because it is not economically feasible. You just have to do the leg work yourself.

I pulled the carbs and gave them a good clean. Everythin appears to be in good shape, with the exception of the rubber parts.
Is it possible to make ne float bowl gaskets? I'm sure I can get o-rings to replace the old ones... or are they something special?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationMake sure that "O" rings are "Viton@" (Fluorocarbon)and float bole gaskets are readily available. They come in ALL of your KZ1300 gasket sets. Do not reuse the old dry gaskets, they will leak. Replace all of them.
Also replace the air valves on the side of each carburetor and the fuel valve connected to each float. The fuel valves are a must. Replace the O rings on the air needles and all plugs. AND FOR GODS SAKE make sure that ALL of the fuel and air passages are clear. These carbs are notorious in clogging up. I have worked on these carbs since 1979 when I bought my first 1300, and worked for a Kawasaki dealer, and they are quite a bit more cantankerous than other CV carbs. While replacing the lower fuel valves be very careful, they are usually stuck and you can do a lot of damage attempting to remove them. I have a special tool to do this, but many guys insist on pliers, and wind up destroying the carburetors in the process. Make sure you blow into any and all ports and passages with dry air to make sure they are flowing properly. I use a special Hydraulic pump to blow threw any obstructions.
Last but not least, if you are rebuilding these carburetors because the engine is running rough or one or more cylinders is not running at all, it may not be the carburetors at all, but your ignition. These bikes are notorious on cracking ignition coils or burning up pick up coils. I have also burned out a FEW alternator stators on these bikes. The alternator is very week for the power consumption of this bike.

Crap... that's exactly why I want to rebuild the carbs. Well, I guess I'm checking the coils today...

BTW, thanks for the link, but he doesn't ship to Canada. No one else has these either.

Z1 did not have them the other day. Actually they were the ons that said that they do not exist. I guess it helps when someone gives them the Part #. I would much rather buy from Z1, their prices can not be beat by anyone. I guess this particular thread has just done a big favor to 1300 owners.

Hay TOMSWEB1 just be very careful with these the BSW32s are quite a bit more tricky than other carbs. If you just want a set of float gaskets I can bid on them and send them to you.

Thanks for the offer otakar, but I just found out that there is no compression in #5, so this project is going to have to sit until spring... The snow is coming, I don;t have a garage, and I'm out of cash... *sigh* California should share some of thier weather with us.

I think once it thaws, I will be getting a kit from Z1, though. What a crazy good price for these kits! That is, of course, if I can salvage whatever is wrong with #5. I think it's the rings, poured oil in and got the same compression as the others.

Thanks for all the great info guys, I'll see you in the spring!
