I've been looking for a set of VM28's for awhile now and I have 4 rebuild kits ready to go for them. However I recently ran into a set of BS34's for free. So which set of carbs will give me better performance on a KZ810 with pods and a kerker. Are the 34's harder to tune, run, mount up?? Any other tradeoff's?? I have experience with vm's but not BS carbs. Anyone use a similar setup??

34's are too big. u will loose bottom end performance.

76 KZ, frame gusset work,1200CC.Ported by Larry Cavanaugh, 1.5mm.over intakes, Carron Pipe, ZRX12 rear end, and seat,96zx9 front end.

what did ya have to start with?...i would think that a set of vm26 would feed an 810 adequately.....they feed stock 1000's.....just wondering.....

I started with VM24's but this is going to be a kinda bad ass 810. cavanaugh porting, web cams, and kerkers are all going in. It won't take down lorcans 810 but it should be a fun bike.

larry would know best, but my guess would be 26 would be crisp if jetted right....28 s would probably give you a stompin top end at the expense of the low end.....again
larry knows more than most people have forgotten......

I thought the BS34's were stock on 750's. Not saying you won't loose bottom end, but a free'er flowing carb should boost your top end compared to a smaller carb. Just my .02.

Mikuni BS34s and Keihin CV34s came stock on KZ/GPZ750s. Slide carbs and CV carbs are not the same. If the BS34s slides are vacuum operated, you should be fine.

Ok. I'll tear into the bs 34's then and see what shape they are in. If nothing else they should help offset the cost of 28's.
