Clymers is junk. Go for the Kawy shop manual. Also, Wiredgeorge is a good source for help.

www.repairmanual.com is where last year I replaced a dog-eared manual I've had since I bought my 82 GPz 1100 B2 model. It was pricey at $60, but has all the latest specs in it. Check to see if any are used as they can be a bargain. Also try E-Bay.

Get the Kawasaki factory service manual; you will NOT regret it. Check eBay, just be sure to get the correct one for your specific year/model as Kawasaki made them for the different models. Ed

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationFor example, here's a current ebay listing for an official Kawasaki KZ1000 Motorcycle Service Manual.

It covers 1977, 1978 and 1979 A (standard) models and 1978 and 1979 D (cafe racer) models.

Could also do an ebay search for KZ1000 manual.

There are official "Supplement" manuals for LTD models.

Good Luck! :)

if anyone has a clymer...look and see if they used a flip flopped "mirror" image on the cam lobes for setting cam timing...i remember getting thrown on this once years back....shows both outer lobes pointed 180 out......clymer sucks........

The Kawasaki factory manual is just the facts w minimal how-to help.
The Clymer manual is more readable, however, it may have errors or confused info:

From the Kz650 Clymer manual:

Chapter 3 Steering play: If the steering adjustment is too tight, readjust it as described under Steering Stem Adjustment in Chapter 8.

Chapter 8 - Steering Head: Adjust the steering as described under Steering Play in Chapter 3.

OEM Kawi manuals # 1.... This is a must....

Same time, grab every freaking manual you can.... I have three different versions for my KZ900 and one KZ1000/1100 manual as well... YES, the OEM manual is used 99.9% of the time but I do reference to others for maybe a different image, a foot note change, something I may have missed or miss understood in the OEM manual..

Also, I have found miss prints in OEM manuals as well. Think it out, reference to other manuals, ask questions and you'll be successful....
