I'm debating the perchase of a 1015cc piston & cylinder kit for my 76' KZ900. As well as getting rid of the pods and going back to an air box filter. Will this meen a definite re-jetting of the carbs? Thanks guys.

Yes, if the carbs are now properly jetted for pods.

Put the needles in the 3rd groove, check the pilot, if it's 17.5 or 20 you'll be close enough for the initial run in. Put about a 105 main jet in the carbs.

If you run the full airbox with the rear silencer section and OEM filter, that will get you pretty darn close. IF you have a good 4/1 exhaust, maybe up to 107.5 main jet or 110.

Could I be missing something here? I have the same year bike and before the 1015 kit it ran 115's with pods. I switched to 112 and it was lean. With the 1015 kit 120's were way soo tmall, I have like 155's in it now. Is it even possible to run a 105 with out a lean condition in a 1019? :silly:

I'm just going to have a local machien shop recondition what I got. I'm sick of all the complications involved. I just want it to run well and dependably. Who needs a faster bike than fast? I drive a Kenworth all day hear on the Big Island of Hawaii. All motorcycles seem fast after work. And the realy big ones just a waist of money. Not to mention the fact that I'm on a rock in the middle know whear. We have no freeway and only a few passing lanes. I just want to have a nice mellow ride on a sweet running, sweet looking clasic KZ900. Aloha and thanks for the input. Perhaps some day?
