If you have 4 into 2 exhaust and stock airbox I would start with stock jetting and needle setting and see how that works. Ed

the pilot jet is a fairly long thick bodied jet about an inch long and it should have a low number stamped into it on the side somewhere.like 15, 17.5 or 20. it has a threaded extention that goes in the carb body that has some small air bleed holes in it.

Alright, so if that is the pilot jet, what is the piece that looks like a jet with a 50 stamped on it that I have to take off to get at the pilot jet?

the one the main jet threads into is the needle jet or some people call it an emulsion tube that is the largest peice of brass in the carb.

I have my main jet, and then beside it, is another "jet" with a 50 stamped on it. Once removed I can access the pilot jet.

So there is the main jet passage with the needle in it, but the passage next to it with the pilot jet, there is another just in the same passage that needs to be unscrewed before I can get to it.

Should I take some pictures or something?

I remember WG talking about that thing, I forget what it does but if I remember right he said you can leave it off with no ill effects.

If this carb diagram looks familiar, perhaps it could be used for reference.

Good Luck! :)

It's a restricting jet that was put on some of the stock set ups in an attempt to further satisfy the emission minded people...definitely not needed, especially if you've got pods and other mods that require jetting her up.

Hey everyone,

I have taken some pictures of what is going on inside my carbs, hopefully this can shed some light on everything.

#1 in this picture is my main jet, #4 from what I understand is an emulsion tube.

Now, #2 Im pretty sure is my pilot jet, it has a 15 stamped on it. #3 though boggles my mind, I have no idea what it is. It has a 50 stamped on it.

#4 screws into the biggest hole in the center of the float bowl, and then #1 screws into that.

#2 screws in first in the smaller hole beside the one the main jet threads into. After I screw in #2, #3 threads into the same hole afterwards.

From what I am reading it seems that this can be omitted? Is this true?

I was thinking it may be time to rejet, get some smaller main jets, and maybe a 17.5 pilot jet.
