NEWBIE QUESTIONS ABOUT SPARK PLUGS was created by waterwalker
having some trouble with my 82 kx750. its stribling bad up untill 3000rpms. i posted in the electrical category and most said i had some carb trouble. today i made a HARD run threw 3rd gear then shut the bike off and pulled the plugs. the two outer plugs were VERY VERY black(fouled i guess), and the two inner plugs were white and clean?????? any thing???? - thanks

Normally.....
Black = Rich
White = Lean
When you say black... carbon/sooty or oil wet?
When you say white, are you speaking of the insulator, if so, should be a tan color not bright white....
Follow the chart, good stuff....
Also, pictures are worth a thousand words... Take some images of those plugs and someone here will jump on helping out....

You might switch coils just to make sure you don't have a weak one before you tear into the carbs.
Then tear into the carbs....:laugh:
