Which float bowl drain plug O rings?
21 Sep 2009 07:34 - 21 Sep 2009 07:36
This weekend I noticed that the drain screws on two of my float bowls have a very slow leak on my '77 KZ650C. I'm guessing that bad o-rings are to blame, but I'm not sure which ones to get. Can someone point me in the right direction? Here's the list of o-rings available from Babbitts. The SKU #'s are all the same, but they say that they're for different carbs??? Thanks!

Uh, aren't those main jet o-rings?
It's just a drain screw. HarborFreight & other places sell metric nitrile o-ring kits for about $10. The kits will have one or two that'll work fine. Some auto parts stores sell individual o-rings from a similar kit.

The main jet o-rings and the drain plug o-rings are the same. Thanks for the tip about the kits.

Might also take one of the remaining good o-rings to attempt matching up at the local hardware store.
Good Luck!

Try to get nitrile o-rings as the 'new' gasoline w/10% alcohol is tough on OEM style o-rings.

Also, the kits are handy because several other sizes can be used on the carbs & elsewhere on the bike.

Kawasaki part number is 16038-016, these are still available from Kawasaki for a little over $1 each. Ed

It will be a lot cheaper with a Harbor Freight metric o-ring set as one of the guys mentioned. I used them on my 650 LTD and all fit fine. You can't go wrong for the price. Bob
