Hello, I just picked up a 1981 KZ305 and am having some issues with the carbs. Theyre Kei Hin carbs, just got them cleaned and checked and the mechanics said the once I got the stock air filter it would run right. Well I can't get the idle set right and it is still bogging out when I get on the throttle.
I would like to change to POD air filters and cut off the mufflers. What should I do?

Cool,I just got it tuned up and the carbs cleaned. It has a new battery, new air filter, changed the oil and checked all the electrical, I don't know what the deal is.

If he said it would be alright with a new air filter and you just put in an air filter and it's running poorly I'd go back to him. Sounds like he didn't get the carbs cleaned thoroughly. Check plugs (?points?) and electrical connections. Might also check compression and timing but sounds like carb problems. Also you should leave your mufflers and airbox alone. At least until you have it running right. Those two things have rendered many good running bikes into nightmares. Especially when one is just learning. GLuck!

Pictures of this old and rare beauty?
Not sure but I would think this old girl would be worth more stock... I'm probably wrong though...
