Ok im at less than 500 ft sea level and got some smoothies that were off a cb750 off ebay for a good deal. they are on a 1075 10.25 with 405 cams and a kerker w/pods.It pops at 3000 rpm like it is lean. so looking at the sudco recomendation it said that the cb750 ran 17.5 and the kz should be 25's so i figure thats my problem.(i have synced them and color tuned the idle mixture) so i buy some 25's and take my carbs off pull the pilots and they are 27.5's! ARGH! The mains are 125's and this is on as i have had them at the dragstrip and the plugs look nice with them . needle is one richer than the middle. they are clean. what next? what am i missing.(no pun intended)

The altitude won't effect much... not high enough. I would probably have recommended slightly larger main jets but if you can pull redline cleanly, stick with the #120s. I would use the #17.5 pilot jets. The secret is to just lightly seat the air mixture screws and give it a try... will be between lightly seated and 1/8 turn out. The #20 pilot jets, if used will be between 1/2 turn and 3/4 turn out from lightly seated. Check the slide cut outs on your assembly. It is a number stamped into the top of the slide. Should be 1.5 but if it is 1.75, 2 or 2.5, you WILL need larger pilot jets. This is from WG carbs same set up....

with my 29's on my 1015 drag motor i'm using the same pilots clip all the way to the bottom (so the needle is as rich as it can go and i use dependin on altitude at 3700 ft. (calgary) 117.5's at 2200 ft ASHCROFT<MEDICINE HAT 120's and MISSION.BC> around 60 ft or less depending on air i use either 122.5 or 125 main jets on my 1075 street motor with same carb's i usally run 115 main's unless im going to the coast then 117 mains hope this help's a good rule of thumb to remember is for every thousand ft of elevation change going up you lose 3% of your power so accordingly you should be leaning out the engine by the same amount to keep it performing as good as it can.
