csr1000 misfire was created by kwak650
I got a 1981 csr1000 running 4 into 1 exhaust,k&n pod filters with stock jets. When I start the bike after it sat for a couple of hours it always mifires.I pull off the plug cap let it arc for a second and that cyclinder fires up.It moves around different cyclinders. The bike runs good after that but I have noticed it runs a bit rich. Any help would be great.

Does it go away when it warms up? Could it be that it is still cold and still running on the chock?

It will not go away unless I pull off the plug cap for a couple of seconds and let the spark jump the gap or swap out the plug.I am after tring all different brands of plugs but it doesent make a difference. It doesent matter if the choke is on or not.

pods and a pipe with stock jetting and its running rich?
you definitely need to scope out ignition system.....good battery, good coils, wires good, plugs not old and done?

I know the battery and charging system are good,I installed a rotor from electrosport works great.Whats the best way to check the coils, ignition box and pick up coils.

With pod air cleaners, you need to increase the pilot jet size by at least one size. Might want to increase the main also. It is running lean and popping and missing. This probably will fix your problem. Anyone agree?

The bike runs fine once it get going, pulled all plugs a number of times and they are all fouled black. There is no backfire or popping when riding, there is a bit on start up but usually clears up.
