Since 90% of everyones riding is done on the "Needle" This is the most important. Once you have done "ANY" modifications to your engine including headers or pods, The needle profile must change. If most people do not know how that profile works they would have to have a box full of needles. The problem is that the selection for BS carbs is non existent. It just is not being made. This means that you are between a rock and a hard place. Either have needles made or buy a jet kit for a buck and a quarter. Unfortunately these jet kits are made only for very minor modifications to include pods and header. Once you install a big bore kit or cams. Well now that is a different story all together. That procedure is very informative and is a "tuners common sense", now comes the hard part. Either you have the experience to do this in two or three tries, or you can take a couple of weekends to get it somewhere close. I've been monkeying with these things since 1978 and it took me quite a few years to learn how to do these things in a reasonable amount of time. But the bottom line is "If you don't have the right needles, you will get nowhere fast". Stock needles just wont handle much past a header and maybe a set of pods (at best). Just ask "BUDA" He went threw hell, and that was AFTER he got his carbs back from a professional re-builder. Even when you just install just pods, the carbs have to get modified to work perfectly.
