1979 kz650 stock jetting was created by hammerdown 58
Hello
Does anyone happen to know the stock carb main jetting for a 79 kz650. The only reason I ask is that my brother has one that is running cool on #2 cyl ( fouls plugs and pipe is a different color) Seems PO installed kerker headers and air filters and may or may not have rejetted. Thanks for the info.

My Haynes Manual says 100 for the main jet and 16 for the pilot, stock.

If his '79 has the air screws that point up and outward to the left for 1 & 2 and to the right for 3 & 4, then the factory service manual provides the following:

Main 97.5
Jet Needle 5CL16-3
Pilot Jet 15

The jet needle clip should be in position 3 (middle slot).

These match my stock 1979 650 SR.

There were probably 28 zillion versions of the VM24 assembly. Your bro's bike is fouling so bad on #2 that it isn't firing. If he has pods and aftermarket pipes, about #107.5 main jet and #17.5 pilots w/jet needle clipped to 4th position should be OK. The fouling isn't because of the jetting... more likely electrical.
