i have a 1981 kz1000 w 29mm smooth boores every one is telling me that i dont need pilot jets any bigger than 17.5 i have tried sizes from 17.5 thru 37.5 and smaller jets just doesnt seem to work it pops and sputters and has no take off right now it has the 37.5 wich i know is extremely big but it seems to run good the plugs are a nice ashy grey i was wondering if any one else has put smooth boores on a j motor and how they had it jetted my mains are 115 and it just has me confused i dont knoe if its the bigger valves in the j motor or what the only problem im having is it is kinda hard to get started and my air mixture screws are out 2 turns if anyone can give me any ideas it would be helpfull thank you
The pilot jet is for the starting circuit. When you can start it without the choke? your pilot jet is close or alittle to big............
