carbs too big? was created by Headly
Gday guys was just wondering what your thoughts are on this.
I have a z1b,1045 wiseco pistons, ported head, dyna s coils and ignition, four in one headers with titanium yoshi can.
I am currently running 33mm keihen crs carbs with foam uni filter type air cleaners. I have re jetted a few times and dropped the needles to where i feel its running fairly well.
Do you think 33mm bore is too big ,would i be better off with say 29 or something as i have a set of 76 z1000 carbs at home, just curious on other opinions as most guys around here are running big flatslides(36-38), i think this is overkill myself on smallbore bikes(900).
Thanks Jason.

First off, that is one beautiful KZ you have there... B)

No mention of performance camshafts so assuming OEM...
Bike running sweet, seems so...

No fouling plugs, accelaration/decelaration issues when twisting or releasing the throttle, no carb or exhaust backfires, mpg/kpg reasonable ~ 30 etc...

Then leave her alone for you will feel a difference in the Keihin CR specials to those 30 year old carbs... Speaking of technology not size... Also, your head was most likely ported for those carb intakes so with that lone, leave her alone for optimium air flows into the head.

I have a 1015 cc kit with .365 mild performance cams and the 29mm CRS... When resarching my carbs, the recomendations where to stick with 29-31mm... At 33mm, and considering the work that was accomplished in your motor don't screw with it, leave her alone... ;)

Now, picture of that exhaust pipe? :woohoo:

Seriously, sweet Z!

I would think 29's would work better. Sandy has a set on his 1105 motor and thing is FAST and runs perfect from what I saw. Might have been the 15 foot burn out he did past me last summer.

I totally agree with the 29mm especially if they are NEW CR Specials but not if 30 year old carbs and consider if his head was ported for the 33's, ...

I'd just stick with what he has...

Just my two worthless cents worth...

Thanks guys, yeah im happy with the old girl she looks a bit better now than when i first got it.I painted it myself and modified the pipe to fit the yoshi can(it came from my mates turbo busa he runs a dump pipe so didnt need it anymore lucky me).I ported the intakes myself as i put GPZ manifolds on so i just port matched them and gave a clean up (removed casting dags etc). OMR i love your bike mate,i have a Z1 project on the go with honda fireblade front and rear end put in and an old roots type blower to play with aswell(never played with blowers before so it should be a learning experience).
