Which way is up for the float? was created by Kenny
Hello, On the 1975 KZ400D floats one side has flat spaces and the other side is rounded. Took the carbs apart because of starting problem. Now I wonder if I'm getting the float upside down? The Clymer seems to show it one way in the parts diagram and the other way in the photograph. Kenny

Besides, do they actually fit and make sense upside down?

Usually (not always) the float has a small tang (near the pin) to keep the float from falling too far. This would point down when mounted on the bike.

Does the "tang" have a tiny polished mark about the size of a small pin head on one side. If so, the side with the polished mark goes UP.

No, The tang that I am refering to us usually part of the float arm and hits against the float post to keep the float from falling to far and getting the float needle on a bind.
