1980 kz1000 ltd carb issues

I am going through my carbs and have a question. I took everything apart on the bottom end of the carbs and soaked and blew air in every port hole. The top slides look real good. I took the top covers of the carbs off to look in them. Everything looks real good on the top. I did not take the slides out of the carb. I left all the carbs together on the rail. The gaskets are not torn on the top covers. Can I reuse the old gaskets on the top? Is this a crucial area? I am going to put new gaskets on the bowls and new o rings on the main jet tube and drain screw. I was going to replace them but they are backordered. Should I try to locate some more gaskets?

you should have no problem reusing top gaskets,im a cheap bastard and also reuse bottem ones if they arent torn.i learned a trick years ago if you put chapstick on both sides of a new carb gasket it keeps them from sticking so you can reuse them if youre carefull B)
Still recovering, some days are better than others.

thanks for your input. All of the top gaskets did not tear. By the way I am a cheap b. also. I think I will just flop this back together then.

I'm with PLUMMEN, the Top gaskets just keep out the weather. The lower gaskets however I would replace because they get hard and start leaking. They only cost a buck or two each, and that is not worth having to tear everything back apart.
