What exhaust are you running and what type of pods? The cheap pods don't flow as well as K&N so that'll make a difference for you. When I was running the stock vm24 carbs with K&N pods and lightly baffled 4-1 header on my 77 650 I was running 17.5 pilots, clips on the #4 slots, and 115 mains. No baffle I had to bump up to 117.5. On a stock exhaust 81 650 CSR (vm24 carbs as well) when I switched to pods I had to bump to the 17.5 pilots, needles on #4, and 112.5 mains. Stock jetting is 15 pilots, needles on the #3 clip (I think, that's where every rack of carbs I ever tore apart was clipped anyway), and optimally 102 mains (Kawi jetted them lean from the factory though and most had somewhere around 95 mains, which were just a bit lean).

Hope that helps!!

"what i gather i need to go up 2 sizes-"

Be careful in this concept for it doesn't always hold true....

Example, I have brand new Keihin's CR specials and it was the opposite for me where the stock jets are running way too RICH!

I've had to drop mine 2 sizes in the Mains and slow jets (pilots) plus drop a clip position from 4 to 3...

Jetting is a pain in the ass no doubt but it is what it is... Trial and error, test, re-jet again when necessary...

What works on my KZ isn't necessarily going to be right on yours... To many other variables that effect this for the desired/ideal TAN plug coloring...

Just some thought...

Jet kits are a waste of money. You'll spend probably 5 times more to buy the jet kit than you will picking up the jets you need from z1 or a local shop. The jetting numbers I gave you should get you real close.
