Easy answer for that one, YES!!!

I'm running vm26 off a Suzi GS750 on my 77 650, it was a HUGE gain from the 24's. My jetting is the same as I was running in my 24's, with K&N pods and lightly baffled 4-1 I'm running 17.5 pilots, needles on #4, and 117.5 mains. I don't have any dyno or track numbers to tell you how much of a gain there is, but the seat of the pants knows the difference!!!

That's good info. I have an extra set of 26's that I was thinking about putting on my 650 one of these days. I also have several sets of 28's (Z1 style) - think those would be too much for the 650?

If you put a 750 head on it with larger valves than the 28s would be fine.

One of the guys over on www.kz650.info put 28s on his stock 650, said they turned it into a wheelie monster. I'd throw some on mine if I came across them cheap, but when I scored the 26's there weren't any cheap 28's to be found...

The 26's will probably give you the best all around gain without getting into deeper motor work. The 28's would need some top end work to really get the most benefit from them (as noted)...

With everything being stock except for air filters and exhaust, it sounds like 26's are the way to go.

Anyone else have 26's (or larger)on their 650?

78 kz650 b2/w720 wiseco kit. Jardine 4-1 K&N's.have run stock vm 24's in both a/s amd a/s/fuelmix screw configurations, kz1000 vm 26's and 29 smoothbores, 29's worked best, but having only 1 set the thou took presedence. sidebar, the 650 was my wifes' bike, and after Kid's, seldom saw regular use, thus multiple 24's, I kept a spare set cleaned & waiting in the event of a "lets' go now" ride. even at that, hard starting cold was previlant. perhaps I was inept, but w/ present vm 26's have had no probs tho bike often sits months unused. g

anarki650,

Can you post the link to the thread on kz650.info about the carbs that you mentioned. I looked for it but cannot seem to find that thread. Would be interesting for all i think.
