Was floatbowl fuel level checked using the clear tube test?

The "measuring-while-upside-down-on-workbench" test is not reliable.

Good Luck! :)

Try spraying around #2 carb with propane gas (unlit of course, duh) while the engine's running. Gives broader coverage than spraycan method with WD40 or carb cleaner.

Propane eh... that I can do.

Yeah. Its so easy on these carbs, I always do the level installed on prime.

With the way these carbs are designed, at idle, the throttle plate is stopping almost all vacuum flow in the bore. I've checked several times now, and the plate is passing air exactly as the others. So the point of entry has to be after that plate...

small pilot circuit holes after plate... I've tried plugging the air screw passages completely...

carb holder leak/crack...

maybe my spark plugs bad/leaking!?! huh!?

exhaust flange is really tite and quiet...

More to try I guess. Pretty sure this carb isnt just busted. Will update... ;)

OK, I've finally fixed my problem. -Only beacuse I'm crazy relentless.

I was actually unaware that there are three tiny jets in the throttle end of the carb bore, and the most important of course was clogged.
Even after boiling and everything, it wasnt gas/varnish buildup. It was a tiny flake of glass!?! Glass... wha? Yeah, glass.
I have no idea where that came from.

Evrything else is so crystal clean on this thing...

No boot leak, or anything like that.

One more question to anyone who has more experience with these carbs. The air screw guys on the top engine side, do they pass mixture, or just air? Is in rich, or out?
Anybody? ...Otakar? :P

Cheers. B)

tec9, Sorry, am clueless. screws between slide and head below carb throat are usually fuel mixture screws. and control volumne. (mix being controled via pilot jet) Diaphram (CV) carbs use several configurations incorperating jets located in body below diaphram. In old yamaha's these were similar in external dimension but radically different in orifice size. can only offer, chase passages and compare jets to other bodies. luck G
