Runnin 117.5 mains and 22 slows IIRC, the pods are Uni filters, so they breathe well, and I don't know what the header is, but it gets plenty out.

Bike is definitely not running nicely though, and I realized I forgot to check this.

What needle setting are you running with your bikes setup similarly?

I'm in the upper midwest.

On my 77 kz650 I have K&N pods on vm26 carbs (size bigger than stock) with a 4-1 lightly baffled pipe. I'm running 17.5 pilots, 117.5 mains, with needles on the #4 clip. When I was running stock carbs my jetting was identical. Hope that helps.

Also, I was anal when I jetted my carbs and went through about 10 sets of plugs doing plug chops on all 3 circuits (idle, about 3500 rpm, and WOT) so I'm very sure that my jetting and nice and tan plugs are both accurate for all ranges of the rpm band.

In Omaha, NE if you wanted to know my atmospheric pressure. B)

Oh, and I guess a better question would be.... is the stock setting in the 4 position?

I seem to remember it being.....

Every rack of 24's I've ever pulled apart for the first time (that I did it) the needle was in the #3 slot, don't know if that means that was the stock setting or not, but that's what I always found when I opened them up...

I'll definitely have to check.

I went out and pulled the needles from two spare sets a bit ago and found both in the #4 position already.

I'll tear into my good carbs tomorrow.

The bike is just SUPER CHOPPY at idle... but will idle with the choke up.

It sorely needs to be synced up, but I wanna get this setup first.

Thanks man.

Jet needle clip position has very little, if any, influence on idle performance.

Good Luck! :)

You're right.... but getting the proper needle setting ahead of time before you sync up a set of carbs is common sense. Note: Nowhere in my post did I say I plan to change clip position to cure idle. Just that it idles like piss and needs to be synced, but that I wanted to get this set ahead of time before I go through all the setup.

;)
