i just bought my first kz, an `80 650 thats in great shape however i have a little issue. on the side of my carb there is an exposed brass tube that puffs out air every now and again and it also has vacuum while the bike is running. i have attached a picture of it.

Might be nipple for tube to vacuum petcock. But if not, plug it with a vacuum cap.
Should be no vacuum nipples sucking in from open air.

yea the petcock was redone by the guy who i bought it from its a newer stainless steel petcock so its possible he just didnt plus the vacuum nipple thanks a bunch ill try pluging it and see how she runs

Sounds like the oem vacuum petcock was replaced with an after-market manual petcock, in which event the manual petcock doesn't need any vacuum supplied from the carb.
So the now unused carb vacuum nipple should be capped (plugged).

Would also be sure to fit an accessory in-line fuel filter. These in-line filters are inexpensive and readily available at bike shops and at Z1E.
If needed, Z1E also carries the good heavy duty vacuum caps in a set of five.

yea it was too large but i got a little cap and a filter for it today, thanx for the advice. I'll post some pictures of her later.
