\"rigging\" question
09 Mar 2006 18:40
I have a new petcock on the way. My old one was leaking pretty bad tonight at the bottom where the screen is. Its a simple on off reserve type, no vacuum or prime. What is a better temporary fix, teflon tape or Permatex black silicone? This fix should only have to last a couple more days.

Silicon is no good sealing gas, so I doubt it would work. The thread sealer tape may work. The original bowl had a rubber gasket in it which is no doubt missing or hopelessly hardened.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Permatex non hardening gasket cement should do it.

Teflon tape will not work with gasoline, please don't try it. It will eat it up and then you are back where you started, but this time with teflon goop blocking your fuel filter or carb .

Dan, if you need one to make the ride tomorrow, I'll give you one. Give me a call and I'll go to the shop tonight and pull one off of a tank.
