Disabling accelerater pump? was created by Bluemeanie
My '80 KZ650 has been running great for years with the exception of a hesitation below 4000 rpm. I just installed a nice set of stock pipes in place of my Kerker which has been on the bike for 28 years. My bike originaly came with 90 something jets but decided screw the EPA and installed "standard" 650 jets and pilots (102.5 and 15). But with my pumper carbs giving an extra shot of gas everytime I took off it was too much and caused a major hesitation. Today I unhooked the pump rod and the hesitation is gone. What a differance it made, so my question is.... how do I disable the accelerater pump? The rod is unhooked from the linkage but am afraid it may catch on something and hold the throttle open or something like that. So what can I do? Thanks guys... :)
