V&H 4 into 1 Megaphone exhaust

I have been fixing up my 78 KZ650 B2 and one of the last things I need is an exhaust since the original one literally has holes in it from rust. I have seen one of those Vance & Hines 4 into 1 on a bike once at a show and it looked real nice. I wanted to see if anyone had any experiance jetting the bike with that pipe. I have the emgo pod filters and I do remember bumping up the pilots to 17.5 but I forget what the mains are. I THINK they may be 117 or 118. It does have a little bit of a bog when I crack open the throttle from 3/4 to WOT.

I have the 4 into 1 vance and hines on my 77 kz650, it has a 710 kit on it, and the carbs are off of a Z! 900 with the stock jetting. The bike runs flawlwss with no bogs what so ever.

The issue may be the pods the emgo pods dont run worth a crap on mikunis if you have air box put it back on and it should run good with the pipes you may need to go to 125 mains

i ran 17.5's and 120's in mine before i tore it apart again.
stock 650 with a vance and hines run wide open,, 26 mikuni's and k and n filters.
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

I have heard this about EMGO's that they are crap. Is it that they are restrictive or just flow way to much? I cant tell. I would put the stock airbox back in but its such a PITA to work on those carbs with that box.

I have EMGO pods on my z1, i found that if you super glue the rubber boot to the chrome pod housing were it slides in they run alot better.

I think the issue with emgos are that the rubber blocks the air flow port that opens the needle valve and will not let it get enough air in the port to fully raise the needle which is why most of the issues with them are on higher rpm range some poeple try to trim the rubber around the ports and then glue the rubber to the chrome to replace the strength i would either drop the cash for k&n filters or deal with the air box
