Alternative pod air filters? was created by Carr_113
I've been searching and looking around, wondering if anyone has found pod air filters that are of better quality than the typical EMGO filters, but are not the oil/mesh filters like K&N. I'm looking for preferably paper filters that do not let in as much dirt or dust as the K&N's do. Any input? Thanks!

In my experience filters that are oiled let far less dirt or dust thru than paper filters.

Why don't you want to use K & N's?

I did some research, and all of the evidence I've found from filter tests shows that K&N filters let a LOT of crap through the filters. I'd like to get the longest possible life out of my engine. Some tests showed that plain paper filters stopped a lot more dirt and dust, and only showed a 3% difference in contributing to horsepower

If you want the longest cleanest life put the airbox back on and use a stock filter. As for foam over paper I do know a foamie properly oiled will outlast the paper. Also if you are dealing with pods you will deal with washing the bike and with rain and wetness in general. I would still take the oiled foam. But my experience leads me to the stock setup anyway. But an oiled drop in K&N in a airbox ain't bad either. my 2.5 cents (adjusted for inflation)
