the best way to check if your float valve needles need replacing is to run your finger nail up and down the tip if you feel any grooving replace them and then get a magnifing glass and look in the valve itself and look for scoring and pitting on the seat area.if there is any replace.

First off welcome to the insanity of the KZ mind....

Secondly, BUY a digital camera.... A picture is worth a thousand words of what you'll be describing....

Thirdly, as you have already mentioned, research and study the hell out of the service manuals, preferably the Kawasaki Shop Manual for they are well written with pretty much everything you need to know about that old girl of yours. Don't just read it, study it over and over, take notes & discuss with others when in doubt. ;)

Use the forum search function and read/review every posting/discussion on a subject matter... ;)

Last but not least, run for your life, sell the bike to me for once you start on restoring these old beautiful & magnificent machines, your life will never be the same for it becomes an obsession....   :woohoo:

Thanks again guys. I've become obsessed already. Cant stop reading. I'm hear at KZ rider or in mt clymer manual, and I have a Kawasaki shop manual on the way. Timebomb33 great advice for checking the condition of my float valve needles, and valve.
