Need help w/ sync!! was created by Pro_window78
I have a 78 kz1000 a2, needing to sync my carbs. It has 76 kz900 carbs on it, rebuilt and rejetted by George. What measurement should I be looking for on my gauges? at what rpm? Thanks! Ryan

Are you using gauges or a vacuum stick with graduated lines? Most Z1' and KZ's are checked at idle with a quick snap up to maybe 3-4K and back to idle to see if the slides all close the same.

if it has stock cams and depending on the type of carbs you should see anywhere from 14 to around 20 on the sticks and gauges.

Update: My gauges are antiques and COMPLETE crap! All they do is sit there and bounce at idle, they smooth out around 4k, but they all don't read zero at rest. Does anyone know of a decent set of gauges for less than an arm and a leg? Thanks:woohoo:

Are you looking for a Tach, Speedometer or both? I just bought a new set to change out mine because the trip meter doesnt work but everything else is fine. It has 32000 miles on it and the Tach works perfect....Russ

i made my own sync gauge out of 4 sobe bottles and some vinyl tubing. i put some 40 weight in the bottles and then i can just look for oil flowing from one to the other. i love it. it works great and is very accurate. cost be about $5

your guages should have some sort of adjustment either by screw or a barrel where the line meets the guage. you just have to adjust them until the needle smooths out then you should be able to get a good reading. I just did mine and I set mine all to about 25 on the guages and it made a huge difference.
