I'll take a peek at the KHI shop manual when I get home this evening to see if there is anything diagramed.

shane99...the Kawasaki shop manual has nothing regarding hose routing and the exploded diagrams on the Kawasaki site aren't much more help. Ley me look at my R1 tonight and see if I left things hooked up before I mothballed it.

Shane, I think there is only a single fuel line going to the carbs but there are three vacuum hoses coming off the carb bank. One of mine isn't connected to anything but the other two come off each end of the carb bank, meet at a 'T' over the carbs with a single vacuum hose then extending to the pollution control device over the exhaust side of the cam shaft cover.

Shane,
Take a look here
kz.mbsween.com/parts/C-9AirCleaner.jpg
You'll see the vacuum lines diagrammed in the upper left. They don't show the connections to the carbs, but after years of removing them I can replace them in my sleep. From carbs 1 and 4 you go to the T which then goes to the clean air rig under the tank/coils. 3 has a cap that effectively plus it. and 2 goes to the petcock.
If you don't have the plug you can use a small length of vacuum hose and a bolt to plug it.
If the clean air assembly was removed from your bike you can just connect 1 and 4 together or plug those also.
Almost forgot, the gasline (1) goes from the Petcock to the a fitting between carbs 2 & 3.
That site kz.mbsween.com has the parts microfiches for the 83 KZ750L which is mostly the same as the 82 R1 (I own both). From a parts perspective, they're the same except for the gauges, handle bars, color of gas tank/side panel/tail piece, and chrome bits vs black on the engine covers.
