I'm adjusting the air/fuel mixture screws on the carbs (KZ550) and had a brain fart. They're now set a 2 1/4 turns out, burning a little rich. Turn in to rich and out to lean ? or vise-versa?

Can't say 100% on your setup but normally it's turn to out to lean.... On my Keihins, this is the setup in the pilot settings...

if it is a fuel screw [towards front of motor] then turning it out will richen the mixture, if it is the pilot airscrew [towards the airbox side of bike] then if you turn it out it will lean out the mixture.
