BST33SS CV carbs (GSX/Katana) was created by tachrev
Anyone have any actual experience with these?

They are 33mm flatslide CV carbs, I'm watching a set on ebay now.

I am wondering if they are better then the BS34 CV's that a lot of people run(I think I have a cruddy set of those).

It turns out my vm28's are vm26's, with the pilot circuit screw in the bottom. Not sure what they are originally off of. They seem to be working well, but I want something a little bigger. Smoothbores, of course, are too much $$.

It looks like I could sell my VM's for a pretty good price(anyone looking for a clean, working set that doesn't look like it's been sitting in a mud puddle for a few years? :cheer: )

My other option is these:
1987 GSXR750 Carbs:

...but I have no idea what they are...CV, mechanical, size, craptastic carb, no parts availabilty, ect.

Any insight is much appreciated.

Oooh. I may be bidding on those same carbs, haha! They are 34mm Mikuni rs flat slides. Nice carbs. Still can get a new set from APE if you want to spend some serious $$$$. I believe the only mods to make fit are the correct size boots (can be bought at APE), and maybe a throttle setup (thats what i read on somewhere, not sure though).

Nah, RS's are different. I don't have the coin for those.

Katana carbs can be had for under $100 easy, sometimes much cheaper. They are CV flatslides. RS's are mechanical flatslides, they work like the VM carbs do.

GSXR750R ´85-86 had Mikuni TM33-3012 kits. 33mm mechanical flatslides with acc. pumps. I got a set in my ELR, they are rough on low RPM but sooooo sweeeet when you crank it up. BS -carbs are CV-type carbs that are maybe smoother but they do not give same throttle response nor power.

In your pic that set looks like a Mikuni RS34. The top cap is fifferent shape andt the slide operation linkage is facing backwards. In TM33´s linkage is facing forward. Compare the pics and you´ll see the diff.

For comparison these are TM33´s that I got:

Ah, I see what Jordan was saying now then.

Well, the GSXR carbs(which were listed as stock on ebay) are gone.

The Katana carbs will be over soon, but I haven't decided if I want CV or to just hold off for a while. More top end is really what I'm looking for.

Do you think the 33mm flatslide CV Katana carbs would make more power then a set of old BS34 roundslides?

I think I have some of those that I can use already.

I also have a set of FZR1000 38mm Flatslide CV's, but the spacing is wrong and doesn't look easy to change.

Good to know what the GSXR stockers where though. Whats the going rate for them? Sounds like a nice carb.

Tachrev: TM33´s can be really difficult to find. I´m not 100% shure but what I´ve heard and read GSXR750R with TM33´s was not sold in US. They were also used only for two years as they were too rough/racy for smooth cruising. Ravcaige started from 3000rpm....

If you find RS34´s buy them. They are around $700 new ones so ain´t gonna be cheap.

Thanks...I am hardly ever below 4000rpm anyway. Just don't like how the bike feels below that.

Those carb's you described as RS's when for $250! But I can't afford that right now, unfortunately.

From what I have been reading the GSXR750 came with 29mm, 31mm, and 36mm flatslides. Mechanical. Sound familiar at all?

The 1100 had 34mm flatslides..I think.

Timebomb: PM'd ya.
