What carbs match csr650 carbs?

The diaphrams in the carbs on my '81 CSR project are shot. Diaphrams are impossible to source so I'm just going to get a new set of carbs. Do any other models/years CV carbs match those on the '81 650 CSR? And does anyone have a set?

Hmmmmm....if you have an 81 CSR 650 you should have slide carbs on it not CV's. The 82 and 83 650's used CV's though. If I'm not mistaken those were BS32's not a real common carb but you could look for a set of BS34's they are much easier to find. One caution, I just noticed this the other day, the 81 650 CSR has a different mounting location for the petcock (further to the rear) than the bikes that used CV carbs so you may run into some clearance issues. Is it possible you have a later model CSR?

If I'm not mistaken, anarki put VM24SS carbs, which came on most earlier 650s, on his '81 CSR.

I'm pretty sure he'd loose some hp switching to the VM24s.
And the 81 CSR airbox ducts aren't available, so that would be a problem; I believe the ducts for the earlier 650s are still avialable, so he would need to get an airbox w the smaller middle holes (#2 & #3). The VM24 carbs might be easier to maintain, though. Before getting any CV carbs, I would check into the availability of the diaphragms - those on a used set may need replacing.

My 81 CSR had vm24 w/ accelerator pumps. I replaced them with vm24 non-pump carbs from my 77 after I upgraded my 77 to vm26s. Source a set of vm26 carbs and you won't loose any performance from the BS carbs, and you won't have to deal with the diaphrams making your life hell.

I took a look at the title again and its an 82 with CV carbs. Will 750 carbs work?

Yes they will.

Which 750 model?

That depends which brand of carbs you want to run. The 750E and the 750H both came with Keihin CV's while the 750 GPZ's and the L3 came with Mikunis either one will work. I would tend to lean towards the Mikunis due to greater availability of both the carbs and parts for them. Also the Kehins use a pressed in float valve where the Mukunis screw out and are easily replaced. The BS34 Mikunis you need were used on a number of different bikes including the cop bikes so they are not too hard to find. The spacing is the same as for the 650/750.
