Engine Swap which Carbs was created by supablake
So I just finished putting a 81 750 engine into my 78 650sr

I began checking through carbs and the P/O had messed up the CV34's, superglue on the diaphragm and streched/twisted the spring.

I have the old carbs off the 650 which worked fine.

Here's my question.

Do I send the CV's off to WG and have him rebuild them and pay for the new parts -- Or Buy a pair of BS34's

OR - Just put the old Mikunis on and retune them. If so anyone have suggestions on Jetting?

4-1 Kerker, Pods, Dyna etc..
Suggestions?
Blake.

I say put the old mikuni's on to get her running and tune it from there. And save up for a set of BS34's. The rule of thumb is to go up 2 jet sizes for every mod, so 2 for the kerker and 2 for the pods, that should get you in the ballpark were you need to be.

Allready have it Jetted for the 650 with pods and 4-1.
Should be good to go then?

Also I have a Suzuki GS1000 with the BS34's on it. That one's a screamer.

The KZ ran awesome until part of a mystery bolt blew through the block and cam cover. Made it home though. Spewing oil.

I am gonna just stick the Mikunis on and see how the engine runs. The 750 ran about a year ago. I wish I had done a compression test on it back then. I allready bead blasted and painted the block.

Waiting for gaskets and I'll hopefully have it fired up by wed.

Should be good to go, you might have to rejet again cause they will be on a 750, the only true way to know is check your plugs after you run it, they should be a tan color. Let us know how you make out.

Well I got it together today. Re-used exhaust gaskets and valve cover gasket. Wanted to know if it ran at all.

IT DOES!! Started right up! Minimal tweeking and it really goes! That Kerker pipe is loud, setting off car alarms left and right.

Im still going to check the Jetting, it might be running a bit lean. Popping on decel, but that might be the exhaust gaskets.

We'll see when the parts come in.
