smoothbore float level was created by lewisj
I am rebiulding a set of 29mm smoothbores for my 73 z1.. Only mods are K&N pods and a Vance and Hines header. Just purchased new floats from z1 enterprises and need to know how to adjust to the correct level. Carbs are off the bike and on the bench. Also, what position would you have the needle on? Any help would be great.
Thanks Jim

Thanks Mark! Is that measurement from the gasket to the bottom of the float, when the carbs are upside down?
Thanks Jim

Middle clip on jet needle.

Fuel level 2-4 mm below carb body (below the red line in pic).

Best to use clear tube method for measuring service fuel level (with carbs on or off the bike). The upside-down-on-the-bench measuring method often produces inaccurate levels.

Good Luck! :)

Now youve got it. u get them close on the bench. 23mm from the gasket surface to the top of the float.the floats are not all exactly the same weight, so then u fine tune them with gas and the tube trick.B)

As for the needle position. I would start with it in the middle. If that is to lean, move the needle down one notch to richen it up..........
