Ok I feel like an idiot. I am ready to put the bowls back on but the gaskets which fit right when they were new a few days ago seem to have swelled or streatched or something. The gaskets do not want to set into the grove around the bowl anymore. Do they just need to dry out? (Even though they feel dry to the touch) or is there some trick to this that I just don't know? I can't believe that the gaskets are only good for the one install and then they need to be replaced already.

If needed, Z1E carries the rubber rings.

Here's the link to click > O-rings for float bowl

Good Luck! :)

Hi There burkmanofgod

I have the same carbs - Keihin CV34 - and a bit of experience with them so hope I can help

To go back to your first question - the bowl seats dont some out. They are pressed in. Dont even try to remove then or you'll bugger then up permanently.

If you have new float needles and that did'nt work then dip a Q tip in carb cleaner and run it around and around in the carb seat. If that does not work then try Brasso or something similar

Also do what the guys above said regarding float height.

Finally, those float bowl gasket/large O rings are made of crap, new ones included. Once removed from a float bowl they lose their shape, expand and dont want to go back in. What workd for me is to pack each one individually in a small freezer bag and put them in the freezer for 20 minutes. That shrinks them down. Take them out of the freezer one at a time and install before they expand again.

Hope it helps. Good luck

Thanks for the tips. I was about to give up and pay a pro to work on them but I will try your suggestions first. I used a lot of Brasso in the Army. Who would of thought I would be using those skills now on Motorcycle carbs. :)

I like Jr's freezer idea. I've also used just a very light smear of liquid gasket to hold those o-rings in place while I re-install them.
