Air box support? was created by dman3998
I should have taken more pictures, did not have this bike very long before I TOTALLY stripped it down.

1000 B3, does the air box just hang on the carb connecting boots. or is there some part I am missing? It does not appear to have any mounting tabs or ears or anything to secure it to the frame. I am not using the silencer. I see that bolted down on the end and of course connected to the air box. Is that the only connection to the frame?

Thanks

silencer looks different than mine, I am talking about the box that has all 4 carbs connected to it that has the air filter in it. Just in front of the silencer. there does not seem to be any attachment points other than the carb boots.

I have it hanging on a bungee to run my main harness around.

i have a kz1000 ltd 1979. I looked and there are no brackets that I can see. I took mine out and didnt have to unbolt anything.
Im going to rebuild my carbs and eliminate the airbox. Have you heard of anyone doing this?

Well I guess if you are going to eliminate the airbox you are going to pods. Maybe you should do a search on here about them. Seems every other day someone is going to do this thinking its just a simple switch. You will probably need to rejet those carbs to get them right using pods (MAYBE not if you are using the stock exhaust). You might run into a few other headaches too. Lean conditions and wet conditions are two. But if you don't mind fiddling with them you could get them right. As for the airbox I have had then that has two little flanges that bolts to things like the battery/electrix box and some that don't. Some are just so tight with the carbs and boots they do not need support. But I do suggest you do some research to see what you are getting into. This debate about pods vs airbox goes on weekly so there is a ton of info here.
