I cannot get any kit or spares here in SA. 1 jet broken off, carbs are warped, always flooding.

i'd doubt the carbs are warped it sounds to me like you have float valve problems the only the carbs could be warped would be if they had been in a fire.do you have any wrecking yards over there. but try as patton say z1 enterprises they will ship no problem i'm sure.

The TK22's have the most available for them as far as 550 carbs go. The TK26's I don't think even have full kits available. Also, the TK22's have fewer parts and, in my opinion, are more reliable than the later 550 carbs.

Does ebay not allow shipping to South Africa? I see TK22's on ebay all the time.

What do I ask for when searching e-bay? Just TK22 carbs, or do you guys call it something else?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI usually search "KZ550" and carbs or carburetor or carburettor. They tend to come up pretty easily. Sometimes I'll search just KZ550 or GPZ550 and search through all of the parts to find all of them. All TK22 carbs are the same with the exception of the gpz550 TK22's. They have slightly larger main jets and they are black.

Here's a few I found on a quick search. There are probably more than this. Springtime (for the northern hemisphere) is a bad time to find a good deal, though. In the fall or winter you can get really decent set for about $50 (US). In spring or summer you may pay $100 for the same set.

This first set is rough looking. They should not go for more than $25 or so.

Will the gpz550 carbs fit on the kz550d motor? I don't mind it black, seeing my bike is black. If I import the carb, it must fit, otherwise I'm back to square one.

The KZ550D is the gpz550 (at least in the U.S., Canada, and Europe), so yes they will fit. All kz TK22's will interchange. The kz550D uses 94 main jets while all other kz550 using TK22 carbs use 92 mains, so if you get a grey set (that is TK22's from a C model or A model) you will need to put in 94 mains for the D model.

Also, whenever you get a chance, you may want to put your year/exact model of your bike in your signature line, maybe your location too.
