The number doesn't make any sense... Mikuni ID marks are at least 4 numbers long OR 5 numbers/letters. If they are the stock carbs, should be VM24SS. Use #110 mains, #17.5 pilot jets and reclip to 4th slot on jet needle with top slot being #1.

I have seen his carbs and under the choke assembly near the collar it has 272 on there. They look to be stock carbs. We opened them up and the pilots look different than my vm26's off my 1000 and they have the number 50 stamped on them? What do you recommend for the air mixture? 1 3/4turns out? It ran a bit without adjustment and the mixture screws where at 3/4 to 1 turn out.

I don't think those will be 77 carbs... I THINK they are 78. The #50 jets are NOT pilot jets. They are jets that are stuck in the pilot well ABOVE the pilot jet which will be a #15 Mikuni type VM22/210 pilot jet. The main jet should probably be a #90 or #97.5. I haven't had much sucess using the small installed mains and usually go with a #102.5 main for a factory airbox application. It also doesn't seem to matter in the least if the #50 barrel shaped jets are just removed and left out. You can't buy new ones anyway and the bike will run the same with or without them. I have aleady given what I believe to be the correct jetting for this application.

They are not jets found in a 78 carb rack. I think 79 and later had the #50

Just checked my notes on the 24s. I have the #50 over pilot jet on the KZ650B2A and KZ650D1A models. Specs:

VM24SS
Service Fuel Level 3mm
Float Level 30mm
Main jet #90
Jet needle 5CL10-3
Needle Jet 258 O-7
Throttle Valve Cutaway 2
Pilot Jet #15 / #50
Pilot Screw 1 1/2 turns out

At some point, I will get back to all the specs I have and get them organized and put on our website I guess. Doesn't the B2A mean a 78 1/2 model? There was a separate and leaner VM26SS on the KZ1000A2A which was a 78 1/2.
