For .500 & up lift cams try APE's VSP 520 valve spings. Used to go through VSP 500 springs in 25-35 passes, a complete pain in the ass, switching to the 520's cured that. 124 lbs. seated pressure on the intakes, 114 lbs. on exhaust. You'll need to check for coil bind of course and check the keepers on the stem to make sure you are not popping them out.
May need a little massaging on the tops of the retainers and keepers as well. They are only about $25-30 more than the 500's but are worth every penny imho.

thank's jack i already have a set of those and bracket racing almost every weekend in the summer it doesn't take long for 25-30 passes to add up and when the season starts i go into lazy mode because of all the travel involved, i don't want to be doing a whole lot of extra maintenence if i don't have to so unless i'm really unhappy with how the bike is working i think it is going to stay this way for awhile.

I am not sure what the gearing was exactly...I know it is geared to go 170 mph...on nitrous....and we are running a 17 tooth front sprocket for sure.
what do you weigh...Les the rider is about 165-170 lbs.I think once you get this thing dialed in you might be surprised at what it will do ( pleasantly).
one of the other bikes that came out of the shop years ago'81-82 I think....had a 1425 kit locally ported head in a wheelie bar bike with a 10" tire ....trully nothing speacial...always had leak down...and ran 9.0-9.1's at around 140mph.
Paul gast is a pretty easy guy to get a hold of and has yeears of experience with these motors...they also sell a pretty trick tool that will help you with the lectron set up.
anyways good luck...and be sure to post some time slips!!!
