Where to get CV26's And how to swap was created by KawiConvert
I am trying to locate some VM26 carbs and had a couple of questions. Is there a list of bikes that they are stock on? I have my 78 kz650 and would like to try and wake it up a bit more. Which leads to my next question, is the spacing the same between the VM24's from the 650 to the VM26's? And will I need to get new rubber carb manifolds to attach them to the engine?

I am trying to check as my 650 still isn't quite right, power is still a little off, and I may end up buying new carb manifolds for the vm24's and I would rather only buy new ones once as I would like to bump up the power a little eventually and would rather do it now than later.

Anyways, as always, I appreciate all the help from the other members here, so far on my bike I've been able to narrow down several bugs and to find better ways to fix some of the problems I've found while putting my bike together.

Just to clarify, are you talking about the KZ1000 or LTD?

Do you know how much bigger the output side is? Or do I just buy new rubber manifolds and bolt them up to the 650 head?

Thanks for the help so far. I keep thinking the common/easy power, suspension, and so forth mods should be made into a sticky. I've seen similar things done for suspension/frame swaps on one of the dirtbike forums to help newbs figure out some of the basics.

the 26's will fit the 24 manifolds but it is real hard to install them.
better choice is buy some 26's from z1 and elongate the holes a little to fit the 650 head.

someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

Ok, just wanted to make sure they would fit somehow. Do you know if there would be enough material to turn them down on the outside to fit the 24 carb holders? I have access to a lathe and if there is enough wall thickness I could rig it up to turn them down. I don't know though how much I would need to take off and if there would be enough material. I'd still get new boots, but this way I wouldn't have to worry about misalignment of the boots.

Any thoughts on this or about making a plate to adapt the 2 different hole sizes? Just want to check before committing to one route or the other as I would hate to start cutting a new set of carb boots.

One other question, will the jets from the VM24 fit the VM26's? Any other parts crossover between the two?
Thanks,
KC
