Got to about 30 degrees last weekend so i got the 810(81 750 4cyl base)out to see if i could take it for a ride. ran crappy so i pulled off the bowls and sprayed a little carb cleaner down the in the jets to clear them out. Still ran crappy but i jumped on it and went for a ride. Seemed to run fine wide open but when you let off the throttle at any rpm it takes a long tim to idle back down. Doesnt matter if there is load on the motor or not. after you let off the throttle it slowly drops rpm until idle. Does this sound like a vacuum problem? Last year i got rid of the vacuum system and capped off the vacuum nipple deals. Maybe they are wearing/cracking and leaking? It hasnt been ran much since the rebuild so i wasnt sure that it wasnt motor problems. Put a set of carbs off my buddys 750 on and it ran great and was a blast to ride.

Anybody got any ideas of the problem by the symptoms?

No idea what carburetors you are using. That might help narrow a diagnosis. If you capped the vacuum fittings on constant velocity carbs, what did you use?

i believe the carbs are called a bs34. They came stock on the 1982 kz750 4cyl bike that i own. I capped off the vacuum ports with vacuum plugs from autozone. I have heard that these caps are junk and dont last very long. They always ran good on whatever bike i had them on for about a year until now.

Either buy some of the big fat plugs that Z1enterprises.com that would normally go on the vacuum ports of carb fittings for VM carbs or use VINYL caps. The rubber caps don't last very long. I used them initially in my business and noticed that they tended to crack in a few months and allowed the idle to race. It sounds as if you may have cracks in those caps. Check and get back.

k, finally got nice out and i have had the bike out quite a bit. Hauled it up to college. Put new vacuum caps on and it still has the same problems. After it warms up the, the throttle seems to stay open and slowly idle back down. Also is very hard to get it to idle. Also, i have been fighting with the float level alot lately. Adjusted it many times with no luck. When the bike idles for a while, or when the gas is on and the bike is off, it floods. Also have noticed that even when riding at a lower rpm, it bogs when i try to accelerate. Runs great wide open or at higher rpm's. Is this just a float problem that i must not be fixing right or could it be something else?
