kz900 carbs on kz650 was created by Rustbucket650
I have a 77kz650 with 4-1 pipes, pod filters, electronic ignition. I have a set of kz900 carbs that I want to put on and I was wondering if anyone knew a good jet size to start with.

Try the stock jetting which is fairly rich initially and adjust if the bike runs lean but you should be OK as they are.

Isnt the spacing different for the carbs?
What about the size of intake, I know the boot stretches but would that be too much?

IF the carb holders are very soft you should be able to stretch 26's into them. I had to replace the carb holders on mine as they were getting a bit hard and I couldn't force the vm26's into the stock holders. To do this you have to slot the mounting holes on the carb holders to fit the 650 bolt spacing, no big deal.

Carb spacing is the same. With my vm26 carbs (yours could be vm28s though depending on what year they came from), running a 4-1 moderately baffled, with K&N pods, my jetting is 17.5 pilots, needle on the #4 clip, and 115 mains. Perfect running for me in all ranges.

OK... let's start over. Spacing is the same but I wouldn't use carb holders from a VM24. Buy some new carb holders for a 26/28 and elongate the mount holes to fit the bolt spacing on the 650 head. Next look at the numbers on the flange under the choke. They are stamped and very small. This will ident the carb assembly. Once the assembly is identified, I will let you know what jets should be in those 26s. The 26s vary from 102.5 to 115 main jet stock and the jet needles/needle jets are radically different so they need to be jetted differently.

Bringing up old thread hopefully you guys can help identify carbs. Model number is z12 00. 115 main seems pretty large ?
