The airscrews should be where they need to be. I've had carbs where the airscrews were only just past 1/4 turn out, no big deal.

Good to hear you're getting everything figured out!!

Thats great to hear KC. Is the flat spot gone as well now?

Where do you have the needle clipped now?

It seems to be gone. I need to get the bike un-nonopped and then do some more rides to verify, but it felt like I had good response over the whole range. It takes off from a stop well, though I haven't really spun it up and tried to launch. And while in 5th I would let it slow down enough to need almost the entire throttle range and then crank it and let it speed back up. It did fine and pulled through the entire range so for now I am happy.

Oh, the needle clip is in the 4th groove from the top now.

I am glad to hear I can get away with a single turn. I am glad to hear that I won't have another night of tearing apart my carbs to try something else.

On a side note, for synching my carbs, can I take all 4 top covers off at once? I ask this because my slides all have a small hole 90 degrees off of the two mounting holes that goes through the top of the slide. Or do I only take off the top to adjust the slide height?

Thanks,
KC

Here's a link to a bunch of maintenence how to write ups for the 650. It's got a great write up on bench syncing carbs. Final sync is done with the top covers all off and a manometer, you'll do best if you have a shop fuel cell (hanging bottle) for this because you need to have the tank off in order to sync the carbs.

Thanks for the link. Next week I'll have time to pull the carbs off and get things finalized on my bike. I may even have a seat made.
