soaked carbs was created by arobsum
i have a set of 2 carbs that have been soaking in a gallon can of gunk carb cleaner for 2 days and the slides are locked up solid. i have even tried to "gently" pry them up with no success. i have soaked them down with carb cleaner too with no luck. these are the older carbs that the throttle cable comes thru the top and connects to the slide. i unscrewed the top...shouldn't the slide pull out? any suggestions?

Ihave tried this method two times and it worked both t imes. put carb under hot water faucet for 5 minutes getting both the outside of carb and the slide hot. Then use cold water.Do this a couple of times alternating hot and cold. Then get carb cold, then run hot water on outside of carb. The object of this is. The hot water softens the varnish ,heating and cooling makes it work a little giving it room to move.
