Z1R with 40's was created by Z1Rider
I just bought back a Z1R that I owned years ago. It's been hacked into a half ass drag bike. Sombody put a nice set of 40mm flats on it with a big header. I have not even tried to start it due to lack of guage cluster, wiring, battery, fuel delivery, ect. There are no apparent engine mods other that dyna ignition and a two step box. Along with the bike I got 3 boxes of parts, one has what appears to be the original 28mm carbs and manifolds. Is it possible to make 40's work on a stock motor with small jets or does it make sense to get the crusty old 28's rebuilt? I plan on riding this one.

The 40s have a huge venturi, ensuring air flow is real slow and won't work on a stock 1015cc very well... they will start and idle but when you crank the throttle open rapidly, will bogggggggg badly. Too much air and you won't be able to tune out the bog. The stock 28s are far more suitable for a stock bike.

WAY too much carb for a stock motor.

Have a look at this, for example...

List the 40's on ebay under dragbike. You might make enough off of them to pick up a set of 29's.
