Sync' or Screw? was created by TeK9iNe
I'm trying to wrap my head around this one. I'm sure someone here will have the correct, logical answer! ;)

Do I FIRST: a)Syncronize the carbs with my manometer, or b)Adjust the Pilot Air Screws???

Does adjusting the Pilot air screws increase/decrease vacuum, affecting a syncronization? Or am I completely DAFT?!?! :silly: :P

Cheers, and thanks all!

B)

EDIT: The Carbs are mikuni BS34 model.

Check this out, it says synch then adjust air screws. It says it is for the 650, but it will work for all multi cylinder engines

I personally would adjust the idle mixture before synchronizing. If the bike isn't idling as well as it should, then vacuum can be down a tad. To adjust, screw the air screws all the way in and then 1.5 turns out. Turn them back and forth about a half turn to find the highest idle speed by ear. Don't be surprised if one or more of the screws have no effect. If this is the case, leave at 1.5 turns out. Once you have the idle mixture optimized, go ahead and sync the carbs with a manometer. I have had issues occasionally where the vacuum was low and couldn't be equalized to the other cylinders when a carb had the idle mixture grossly misadjusted.
