Fuel leak....grrrrrr was created by coppertales
I noticed a fuel leak last week that was the most probable cause of my reduced gas milage so I pulled the carbs Saturday for a look see. I have not had these carbs off for over a year so I went through them to make sure there were no dirt or settings problems. Remounted them and fired the bike up. Sure ran smoother. While checking for leaks, I noticed dripping under the number one carb. When I lifted the tank up to remove it, I noticed the leak was not coming out of the carb, but the petcock. Bummer. Pulled the petcock apart an sure enough, there wes a tear in the diaphragm. I had a petcock repair kit but it was not for this petcock. At least Z1 has the correct part. If it is not one thing, it is another. With all the fixing I do with these three bikes, you would think I owned Harleys.......never the same problems. I know now why dealers won't work on these old bikes. Once I get everything fixed, I probably will be bored....chris3
